"Example of Santa Barbara Bike Path"

Example of Santa Barbara Bike Path

If you are a keen cyclist — and chances are good that you are, given the relatively high number of bike-friendly residents in the Santa Barbara Area — you’ll be thrilled to hear that Google announced today it has added biking directions and extensive bike trail data to its Google Maps.

This is also good news for house-hunters who can now check with ease distances and routes from a home they may be considering buying; as well as for home-sellers who can flaunt their listing’s bike-friendliness, along with other attributes such as walkability.

Google says the cycling data, which is available for 150 cities so far including Santa Barbara, includes as much bike trail data as possible, efficient routes and bike lanes. It allows users to customize their trip and calculate rider-friendly routes which avoid big hills — particularly pertinent for our fair city.
